Background: | This cytokine binds to TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR receptors, predominantly secreted by macrophages. It possesses the capability to trigger cell death in specific tumor cell lines and acts as a potent pyrogen, inducing fever either directly or by stimulating interleukin-1 secretion. Additionally, it is associated with the onset of cachexia. Under specific circumstances, it can promote cell proliferation and foster cell differentiation. The intracellular domain (ICD) form of TNF induces IL12 production in dendritic cells. |
