| Background: |
Stem Cell Factor (SCF), which binds to the c-Kit receptor, is synthesized by fibroblasts and endothelial cells. Alternative splicing of the same RNA transcript produces both soluble and transmembrane forms of SCF. This protein is essential for normal hematopoietic function and plays a significant role in hematopoiesis, spermatogenesis, and melanogenesis. Additionally, SCF supports mast cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, and survival. |
