Product Details

Source: Escherichia coli.
Molecular Weight: Approximately 8.0 kDa, a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 68 amino acids.
AA Sequence: KPVSLSYRCP CRFFESHVAR ANVKHLKILN TPNCALQIVA RLKNNNRQVC IDPKLKWIQE YLEKALNK
Purity: > 97% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses.
Biological Activity: Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The biological activity determined by a chemotaxis bioassay using PHA and rHuIL-2 activated human peripheral blood T-lymphocytes is in a concentration range of 20-80 ng/mL.
Physical Appearance: Sterile filtered white lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered concentrated solution in 20 mM PB pH7.0, 130 mM NaCl.
Endotoxin: Less than 1 EU/μg of rHuSDF-1α/CXCL12α as determined by LAL method.
Reconstitution: Centrifuge the vial briefly before opening to ensure that the contents settle at the bottom. Reconstitute the vial with sterile distilled water or an aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to achieve a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Divide the resulting stock solution into working aliquots and store them at or below -20°C. For further dilutions, use appropriate buffered solutions.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
12 months from date of receipt, -20 to -70°C as supplied.
1 month, 2 to 8°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
3 months, -20 to -70°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
Synonyms: SDF-1 alpha, hSDF-1 alpha, IRH, hIRH, PBSF
Background: CXCL12, also identified as SDF-1, is a member of the CXC chemokine family, coded by the CXCL12 gene. Current research shows that human CXCL12 expresses six isoforms, all varying in the C-terminal tail alone. Each SDF-1 isoform further undergoes proteolytic processing of its first two N-terminal amino acids. Unlike the standard sequence SDF-1β, SDF-1α's C-terminal tail is shorter by four amino acids. This chemokine bonds with receptors like CXCR4 and syndecan4 present on cell surfaces. While CXCL12 is highly chemotactic for T-lymphocytes and monocytes, it does not have the same impact on neutrophils. CXCL12 plays a crucial role in carcinogenesis and the tumor progression-related neovascularisation.
