Human Interleukin-19 (IL-19) is produced by the IL19 gene on chromosome 1 and is a member of the IL-10 cytokine family, which encompasses IL-10, IL-20, IL-22, IL-24, and IL-26. Composed of seven amphipathic helices, IL-19 forms a helical bundle and utilizes the same cell surface receptor, IL-20R, as IL-20 and IL-24. It is implicated in inflammatory processes, as it can increase the levels of IL-6 and TNF-alpha and trigger apoptosis. |
