Product Details

Source: Escherichia coli.
Molecular Weight: Approximately 8.1 kDa, a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 74 amino acids.
AA Sequence: AAVLRELRCV CLQTTQGVHP KMISNLQVFA IGPQCSKVEV VASLKNGKEI CLDPEAPFLK KVIQKILDGG NKEN
Purity: > 97% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses.
Biological Activity: Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The biological activity determined by a chemotaxis bioassay using human peripheral blood neutrophils is in a concentration of 10.0-100.0 ng/mL.
Physical Appearance: Sterile filtered white lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered concentrated solution in 20 mM PB, pH7.4, 50 mM NaCl.
Endotoxin: Less than 1 EU/μg of rHuENA-78, 5-78a.a./CXCL5 as determined by LAL method.
Reconstitution: Centrifuge the vial briefly before opening to ensure that the contents settle at the bottom. Reconstitute the vial with sterile distilled water or an aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to achieve a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Divide the resulting stock solution into working aliquots and store them at or below -20°C. For further dilutions, use appropriate buffered solutions.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
12 months from date of receipt, -20 to -70°C as supplied.
1 month, 2 to 8°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
3 months, -20 to -70°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
Synonyms: ENA-78 (5-78), CXCL5 (5-78), Neutrophil Activating Peptide ENA-78, Small-inducible cytokine B5
Background: CXCL5, commonly called epithelial-derived neutrophil-activating peptide 78 (ENA-78), is a component of the CXC chemokine family. Its production is triggered by the inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1 or tumor necrosis factor-alpha in the cells. In scientific studies done in a controlled environment, it was observed that ENA-78 (8-78) and ENA-78 (9-78) demonstrated a threefold enhancement in their chemotactic activity for neutrophil granulocytes. They are made via proteolytic cleavage following secretion from peripheral blood monocytes. The recombinant human CXCL5 (8-78 a.a.) consists of a single-chain polypeptide with 71 non-glycosylated amino acids. When comparing amino acid sequence identity, human CXCL5 shows a 57% similarity with its mouse and rat counterparts.
