Background: Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-Alpha), also referred to as Cachectin and TNFSF1A, plays a crucial role in various physiological processes including growth regulation, differentiation, inflammation, viral replication, tumorigenesis, and autoimmune diseases. It also contributes to the body's response against viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections. TNF is implicated not only in inducing hemorrhagic necrosis of tumors but also in tumorigenesis, tumor metastasis, viral replication, septic shock, fever, inflammation, and autoimmune conditions such as Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and graft-versus-host disease.

Recombinant rat Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha (rrTNF-Alpha), synthesized in P. pastoris, is a glycosylated polypeptide consisting of 157 amino acids. This fully biologically active molecule possesses a molecular mass of 17.4 kDa, as determined by reducing SDS-PAGE analysis.
Molecular Weight: 17.4 kDa, observed by reducing SDS-PAGE.
