Cat. No.: | SPOOMO00020 |
Akt, also known as PKB or Rac, is pivotal in regulating cell survival and apoptosis. This protein kinase becomes active in response to insulin, as well as a variety of growth and survival factors, operating within a pathway sensitive to wortmannin that involves PI3 kinase. Akt's activation involves binding to phospholipids and phosphorylation at Thr308 in its activation loop by PDK1, as well as phosphorylation at Ser473 within the carboxy terminus. | |

Storage: | Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/mL BSA and 50% glycerol. Store at –20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody. |
Molecular Weight: | 60 kDa |
Antibody Source: | Rabbit |
Specificity: | Phospho-Akt (Ser473) antibody detects endogenous levels of Akt1 only when phosphorylated at Ser473. This antibody also recognizes Akt2 and Akt3 when phosphorylated at the corresponding residues. It does not recognize Akt phosphorylated at other sites, nor does it recognize phosphorylated forms of related kinases such as PKC or p70 S6 kinase. |
