Target: |
IL-6 (Interleukin 6) |
Reactivity: |
Human |
Host: |
Rabbit |
Clonality: |
Polyclonal |
Conjugate: |
This IL-6 antibody is conjugated to HRP |
Application: |
Immunohistochemistry (IHC), neutralization (Neut), radioimmunoassay (RIA), ELISA, western blotting (WB) |
Specificity: |
This purified antibody has been heated to 56°C for 30 minutes. In ELISA and other immunoreactive assays, this antibody will recognize both native and recombinant human Il-6 in cell supernatants and certain body fluids. In Western blot analysis of natural cell products or human body fluids, multiple bands of IL-6 will appear due to the variable amount of glycosylation on the molecule. A control of similarly diluted normal rabbit IgG is recommended. This product has minimal reactivity with mouse IL-6. |
Characteristics: |
This purified antibody has been tested for use in ELISA and western blotting. Reactivity is also expected in neutralizations, radioimmunoassay and immunohistochemistry. The endotoxin content is estimated to be < 10 pg/µL by the LAL method. By western blot a band approximately 23.7 kDa in size corresponding to native human IL-6 protein is expected in the appropriate cell lysate or extract. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. |

Background: |
IL-6, a secreted cytokine, exerts diverse biological effects. It triggers the acute phase response and facilitates the maturation of B-cells into Ig-secreting cells, impacting lymphocyte and monocyte development. Additionally, IL-6 stimulates the growth of myeloma and plasmacytoma cells, fosters nerve cell differentiation, and influences various cell types including B-cells, T-cells, hepatocytes, hematopoietic progenitors, and CNS cells. Furthermore, IL-6 functions as a myokine, being released into the bloodstream post-muscle contraction. It promotes lipid breakdown and enhances insulin sensitivity. |
