Background: | IL-12 is a powerful regulator of cell-mediated immune responses, stimulating the production of IFN-gamma by NK and T cells. It is produced by activated monocytes/macrophages, B lymphocytes, and connective tissue mast cells. IL-12's biological activities include promoting the growth and activity of activated NK cells, CD4+ cells, and CD8+ cells, as well as inducing the development of IFN-gamma-producing Th1 cells. |
