Alternative Name: IFN alpha
Background: IFN-alpha/beta R1, alternatively known as IFNAR1, is a member of the class II cytokine receptor family. These receptors form heterodimeric complexes responsible for mediating signals from class II cytokines. The subunits within these receptor complexes are shared, serving various functions. Typically, IFNAR1 acts as a heterodimer alongside IFNAR2. Binding of type I interferons activates the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, leading to tyrosine phosphorylation of several proteins, including JAKs, TYK2, STAT proteins, and the alpha- and beta-subunits of the IFNR itself.
Molecular Weight: 50.2 kDa. Due to glycosylation, the protein migrates to 75 - 100 kDa based on Tris-Bis PAGE result.
